Childhood Favorite
Netflix has taken over the film world. They have all the latest movies and television shows, which is why it is so popular. But what about the older movies and television shows? My favorite show growing up was called “Boy Meets World.” It would play regularly on the Disney channel, but finally ended in May of 2000. “Boy Meets World” is only available on DVD through Netflix. It would be better if this show would be placed in Netflix’s comedy television show category because people can watch it whenever they want, especially since there are seven seasons. There wouldn’t be any wait between each season waiting for the DVD to be mailed in. Most people have the Netflix where you can only watch online. From my experience, I don’t bother paying extra for the DVD’s because when I want to watch something on Netflix, I want to watch it at that time.
This show has been released on DVD and iTunes. But what about Netflix? Why hasn’t this incredible show not been added to one of the most popular websites to watch television shows and movies? Instead of keeping shows that nobody knows about, such as; “The Truth Behind: Zombies” or “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” Netflix should replace these shows with more meaningful shows like “Boy Meets World.” Even though the show is a sitcom, at the same time it teaches life lessons to the viewers. They have scenes that could actually occur in real life such as bullying, relationship advice, learning right from wrong, and so much more. There aren’t many shows like that anymore, so it would be a great hit, especially with all the 90’s kids. My favorite characters from this show were Cory and Topanga. I looked up to them and they taught me that mistakes are a part of life and that you must learn from them. There has since been a spinoff to the show that is called “Girl Meets World” but it is nothing like the original series.
With shows nowadays, I have to be careful with what I watch in front of my parents. But with “Boy Meets World” I do not have to worry because it is a show that can be watched with your family. To me, that is what Netflix is about, being able to watch a movie or television show with your family and spend quality time with them. There is no need to worry about foul language and sex scenes coming up because no one wants to be put in the awkward position of watching that next to your family members. On Netflix, there are more television shows from the 2000’s and not many from the 90’s and earlier. More adults would watch shows on Netflix if it had more of a variety. If Netflix could add the show “Boy Meets World” or other shows that are similar to it, then kids will learn from watching T.V. and kids from the 90’s could re-live their childhood memories.
