South Park, a critically acclaimed funny factory.
There are thousands of great and popular shows on Netflix that people enjoy watching. I enjoy all of these as much as the next person. But there are just some shows that I wish I was able to stream that Netflix just does not make available. One of these shows is the animated, raunchy, adult comedy, South Park.
South Park is a great television show that originally premiered in August of 1997 and is currently in its eighteenth season.. It instantly had great success with consistently the highest ratings out of any other basic cable program and today it is still one of the highest rated shows on Comedy Central. It originally was created using cut out construction paper and filmed using stop motion. Now it is all made with sophisticated software in but still emulates the original cutouts that were used. The creator, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, do almost all the voices on the show. The show has been won five Emmys in the duration of being aired. If winning five Emmys is not enough to get on Netflix then I do not know what is.
South Park needs to be on Netflix because of how creative it actually is. A lot of people do not believe it to be a good show because it is very crude and vulgar but if you look past some of that stuff you will see how brilliant it is. The show is always about big news and events that are currently happening in the world. They use the show to make fun of these events by always crossing the line that no other show would try to cross. It always amazes me just how far they go to make fun of people and events in the show. The genius behind the show is that they are able to use events from the current week as the premise for next week’s show. Parker and Stone are able to do this because they do not start creating each episode until six days before the episode is scheduled to air. It is a very bold move but it always pays off for them. It is actually my favorite thing about the show because, other than the news, it is the most up to date and current show out there.
I believe that this show not being on Netflix is a disgrace. It has meant a lot to me over the years by allowing me to laugh at some of the most current and controversial events in the world. Whether it is making fun of how the show “Jersey Shore” was taking over the country, how Photoshop is corrupting the minds of teenage girls, how crazy the Ebola virus made the country, or how fast the company Uber is growing, South Park has always put a smile on my face and made me laugh. In my mind it is one of the greatest shows ever created and needs to be put on Netflix.
